Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Do I need to audition for the 2023-2024 season?
A: Yes. All musicians interested in being a part of the ACYO must audition, even returning members. We have openings in all sections of the orchestra, and we are excited to see returning members and welcome new musicians to the ACYO family.

Q:  What safety measures are in place for the 2023 auditions?
A: All students, parents, and volunteers may wear masks while inside at the UF School of Music building. If you are sick on the day of auditions, please contact glangford@arts.ufl.edu for accommodations; do not come to auditions if you aren’t well.

Q:  The sign up for auditions is closed. Can I still audition?
A:  Yes! We will have walk-in times available on August 27th. Auditions for violins begin at 12:00 pm in the UF Music Building; all other instruments begin at 1pm You can register on site at the start of your respective instrument’s time period and we will fit you in as best we can.

Q:  Where should I go the day of my audition?
A:  Please check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time in Room 101 of the UF Music Building.

Q:  Is there a room to warm-up?
A:  We try to make warm-up rooms available throughout the UF Music Building.  Please make sure to allow yourself additional time to warm-up and still check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time.

Q:  When does the ACYO rehearse?
A:  Weekly rehearsals are held on Sundays at the UF Music Building from 5:30 to 8:00 pm.  The first rehearsal of the season is Sunday, September 10th in UF Music Building room 121.
