Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Do I need to memorize the audition excerpts or my performance piece?
A: No! We welcome players who want to commit to growing their skills. You do not need to memorize the excerpts or your audition piece.

Q:  Do I need to audition for the 2026-2027 season?
A: Yes. All musicians interested in being a part of the ACYO must audition, even returning members. We have openings in all sections of the orchestra, and we are excited to see returning members and welcome new musicians to the ACYO family.

Q:  When are auditions for this season?
A: We will be holding auditions this year on Sunday, August 23rd, beginning at 1pm. Please review the requirements for your instrument

Q:  Where should I go the day of my audition?
A:  Please check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time. This year, we will be holding auditions at Lincoln Middle School.

Q:  Is there a room to warm-up?
A:  We try to make warm-up rooms available throughout the building.  Please make sure to allow yourself additional time to warm-up and still check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time.

Q:  When does the ACYO rehearse?
A:  Weekly rehearsals are held on Sundays  5:30 to 8:00 pm.  The first rehearsal of the season is Sunday, September 6th . This year, we will be rehearsing at Lincoln Middle School, due to ongoing construction at the UF College of Music.
