Q: Do I need to memorize the audition excerpts or my performance piece?
A: No! We welcome players who want to commit to growing their skills. You do not need to memorize the excerpts or your audition piece.
Q: Do I need to audition for the 2024-2025 season?
A: Yes. All musicians interested in being a part of the ACYO must audition, even returning members. We have openings in all sections of the orchestra, and we are excited to see returning members and welcome new musicians to the ACYO family.
Q: When are auditions for this season?
A: We will be holding auditions this year on Sunday, August 25th, beginning at 1pm. Please review the requirements for your instrument and sign up online.
Q: Where should I go the day of my audition?
A: Please check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time in Room 101 of the UF Music Building.
Q: Is there a room to warm-up?
A: We try to make warm-up rooms available throughout the UF Music Building. Please make sure to allow yourself additional time to warm-up and still check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time.
Q: When does the ACYO rehearse?
A: Weekly rehearsals are held on Sundays at the UF Music Building from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. The first rehearsal of the season is Sunday, September 8th in UF Music Building room 121.
Q: I have more questions. Who can answer them for me?
A: As we transition to a new conductor and music director, the president of the the ACYO Board will be answering questions about auditions. Please email president@acyo.org and watch this site and our Facebook page for more information.
