The ACYO depends on the active involvement of volunteers, most of whom are parents of orchestra members. There are many opportunities to participate during rehearsals and concerts. Please look at the following activities and let us know where you’d be able to give us hand. They are a great way to meet other parents and support the musicians’ efforts.
SONATA SNACKS
Sonata Snacks are offered on non-pizza nights during rehearsal breaks (6:30 – 6:50 p.m.) Three parents each provide and serve 30 snack-sized food items (as well as any necessary plates, utensils and napkins) thus feeding the entire orchestra membership. Volunteers bring the items and set them up around 6:15 p.m. so musicians can quickly choose from one of the three options available and eat while socializing during break. Past food offerings have included chili (beef and vegetarian), chicken dumplings, small sandwiches, quiche and fruit bowls. The musicians appreciate the treat and often enjoy the exposure to food from our member families’ different cultures.
For volunteers, this is also a fun way to get to meet other parents or combine efforts with someone they already know. If you have not yet had a chance to sign up for Sonata Snacks, you can do so here: Sign up online for Sonata Snacks here.

PIZZA NIGHTS
Pizza is offered the first night of each month during rehearsal break (6:30 – 6:45 p.m.) ACYO covers the cost of providing the pizza and having it delivered. Volunteers help by setting up around 6:15 p.m.

Reception Help
It is an ACYO tradition to offer finger foods for our musicians and audiences after our winter and spring concerts. All ACYO parents are asked to provide a sweet or savory finger food treat to share. Volunteers gather approximately 1 ½ hours prior to the start of each concert to set up the room, arrange simple decorations and accept donations of food, and clean-up after the reception (approximately 45 minutes after the end of the concert). Sign up to volunteer at the spring concert reception.
Concert Support
There are many ways in which volunteers can help us backstage during our concerts. Opportunities are varied: checking students in; assisting with wardrobe concerns; safekeeping instruments backstage; serving food during breaks; etc.

More Opportunities
We are always appreciative of any volunteers willing to share their time and talent with us. Please let us know if you have any interest in serving as a Board Member or volunteering in any other area. Possible opportunities may include program/poster production; publicity for concerts; finance/grants; photography; or website maintenance and updates.
