  • Alachua County Youth Orchestra under Music Director and Conductor R. Gary Langford recently participated in Festival Disney 2016 where they performed before a panel of nationally recognized judges who awarded them a Superior rating. The orchestra performed “Egmont Overture” by Beethoven, “An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli, and “Cowboys Overture” by John Williams. Three members of the orchestra were also selected for individual awards by the judges. This was the orchestra’s third appearance at the Orlando theme park.
  • Performed at the Florida Music Educators Association All-State Conference, Tampa, Florida
  • Performed at the Music Educators National Conference, Nashville, Tennessee
  • Adjudicated and received Superior Rating, Best in Class award and Gold Award for Orchestra; special recognition for outstanding soloist and most outstanding section in an orchestra at the May 1, 2010 Festival Disney.
  • In honor of the youth orchestra’s accomplishments, the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed June 8, 2010 Alachua County Youth Orchestra Day; See video here.
