Dear Musicians and Families,
Rehearsals for the Spring Concert have commenced, and I write with a few announcements.
- Tee shirts will be delivered to musicians at the rehearsal on this Sunday, January 20, 2019. Tee shirts will also be sold at the Spring Concert for $20 (cash or check).
- There is still time to order CDs of the Winter Concert. Click here to order yours.
- If you or someone you know would like to donate to the Alachua County Youth Orchestra, please visit our online donation site here. All contributions go directly toward the operating expenses for the orchestra, especially for the rental fees for our venues and for sheet music. We appreciate any level of support you can provide.
- There are still opportunities to volunteer to provide minuet meals. Sign up here for a shift!
- Poster designs are due February 24; information here.
- Rehearsal will be abbreviated on February 3 (Super Bowl Sunday; no snack provided). There will be no rehearsal on March 31 (in observance of SBAC Spring Break).
- There will be two re-seating auditions: March 3 and April 14. Practice, practice, practice!
Finally, we would like to extend an invitation to parents to join the board of directors for the 2019-2020 season. As a board member, you will get to know other parents; you’ll see the operation of the orchestra from the inside; you will have the satisfaction of helping nearly 100 young musicians realize their potential; and you will be giving the gift of music to the Gainesville community. We meet on the first Sunday of the month during regular rehearsals. Your input, expertise, and perspective can help improve the organization. Please consider joining the board next year!
